After being in the occult for a while, I have heard a lot about Chakras. I have studied Chakras. I took the time to read about them, learn them, learn their associations. But then I stopped. It didn't take me long to realize that the Chakra system wasn't for me. It also didn't take me long to realize that it is very hard to find reliable |
Chakra information. Most of the stuff I read was on New Age sites, and most of the stuff I heard had been regurgitated from those same sites. It was like a giant game of telephone was going on with the Chakras.
After a while, I was taught that the Chakras were probably Hindu in origin. In fact, after getting past all the New Age reinventions of Chakras, I realized how different they were. Did I want to become involved in Hinduism so I can properly learn about Chakras? Did I even, at this point, believe in Chakras?
The answer to both of those questions were "no."
I don't mind the concept of Chakras, but I think many people don't really know anything about them. They have been immersed into the occult culture extremely different from how they originally began. And while reconstruction to fit with modern needs is necessary, I don't find what has been done to the Chakras to be tasteful.
Personally, I don't even follow the idea of Chakras anymore. Striving for balance emotionally and spiritually is something I do, but I do not use the Chakras to guide me there.
