We all began somewhere, and good information about witchcraft and the occult is really hard to find. When I first seriously got into all of this, I thought I had to be Wiccan to practice magic. Sites that I went on constantly interchanged the words Wicca and witchcraft as though they meant the same thing. Even after learning that they weren't the same thing, it was hard to find good information on witchcraft by itself. Most resources still had a flair of Wicca in them.
I also thought that I could "change" my eye colour by using magic. Granted, I didn't think my eyes would actually genetically change to a different colour, but I did believe that I would gradually be able to trick people into thinking my eyes were different. That was when I started looking more into glamour magic, which is changing the way people view you on more of an energetic level, instead of a physical one. (For anyone who isn't familiar with glamouring, or want more information on it, here is a great post: Glamouring) Most people misunderstand glamour magic as actually physically changing your appearance, when it is completely different from that.
Finding good information is hard, even to someone who is serious about witchcraft or the occult. There is bad information everywhere. So when someone comes up to you thinking that they can control the element of wind, calmly tell them they can't, and lead them in a good direction to learn. Otherwise, they may miss out on a great opportunity to learn a new craft.
